Swedish photographer Bertil Nilsson uses his series Undisclosed to portray the extraordinary potential of the human body to exhibit flexibility, strength and agility, all through capturing contemporary circus artists. Undisclosed is a long-term project that Nilsson has been commited to in order to create a new document of contemporary circus practice. He argues that circus as a subject matter has often been explored in a nostalgic way or portrayed as a novelty; he wanted to capture the physicality and the process of creating circus. Hence, the lack of all the attributes of performance, such as costume, make up, lighting and stage -- even colours. The project shows a deep complexity of emotional and physical movements resulting in impeccable photographs.
This series has also been released as a self-published book. Read our review here.
