25 years ago, the biggest nuclear disaster ever took place in Chernobyl. Nowadays a 30 km corridor still prohibits the outside world from entering the contaminated site. Martijn de Vries (35) visited the site and abandoned city of Pripyat. He found a terrifying silence. Outside the deadzone millions of people live and work in affected areas. The jury of ‘De Zilveren Camera’ awarded his pictures a 2nd price in the category documentary series abroad.
