The Gallows

The Gallows is a recent, ongoing project by photographer Louis Porter (United Kingdom, 1977). The series is actually a collection of 'cut out' images from Google Street View, that display the homes of registered sex offenders, according to US law organisations.

"By law, convicted sex offenders in the United States, are required to register their personal details with authorities for a period between 15 years and life. This information is then made public via the internet and is subsequently disseminated by various organisations, statistical websites and mobile device apps. The following images, taken from Google Street View, are the referent of the information held by one of these databases."
