The Epilogue

In her series The Epilogue, Spanish photographer Laia Abril (1986) reconstructs Cammy Robinson’s life story, a young American woman who died at 26 after suffering from bulimia. Working closely with the family, Abril explores the dilemmas and struggles confronted by many young girls and their families. Her photos of the family’s house and of Cammy’s belongings present both Cammy’s painful absense and the family’s feelings of guilt and grief. Abril’s portraits of Cammy’s mother, father, and best friend, who were photographed in and around the house, depict the most normal moments of people in real mourning.

The Epilogue will be published as a book by Dewi Lewis Publishing in September 2014.
