Graduating from the Acadamy of Art University in 2010, American photographer Jill Hannes has been working on her series Strange Women since 2012, and is still adding portraits to the project, using good friends as models as well as a few self portraits.
Strange Women is a personal project for Hannes, which she began working on after deciding to become sober. "During the recovery process I felt I was constantly changing, and trying to grasp at who I thought I was," she explains about the project. "I felt that I had all of these different characters inside me and this project has personified them." With her series Strange Women, Hannes brings to life many unique and distinctive personalities, expressing different shards of self in states of confusion, sexuality, listlessness and confidence.
