Photographer Bertil Nilsson grew up in Sweden, surrounded by crystal lakes and vast, wild forests. With his latest project Naturally, he returns to the setting of his childhood and explores nature in his very own visual language. Intrigued by the naked body and its manifold expressions, Nilsson places dancers in nature, creating a tension between the natural and the cultural, the organic and the artificial. The naked figure has an obvious connection with our natural history and surroundings, whereas the cultural elements, colour, shape and dance gestures, question that relationship and add a symbolic layer to the images. Pending between order and chaos, control and anarchy, Naturally is a series that is striking for its contrast and Nilsson's thoughtful interventions.
