My Mom's Friends

This series of portraits by Elena Chernyak (1989 Novokuznetsk, Russia) is an exploration of an attempt to comprehend her native environment. The photos were taken in Chernyak's native town in South Siberia. In Siberia, people obviously adore textures. Interiors are bright reflections of local life, but without captions we can only guess how her mum's friends see themselves in these silky, shiny, fluffy scenes. As artful but decent housewives? Or as hot, docile, middle-aged bunnies?
