Photographer and designer Hassan Hajjaj (1961, Morocco) presents a unique take on the joyful street culture of his native country, which comes to life in vibrant, upbeat images. Kesh Angels is a tribute to the biker culture of the young women of Marrakesh. Directing them in theatrical poses with their scooters, motorcycles and colourful outfits, Hajjaj creates images that reflect their strength, style and street-smart attitude. In veils and djellebas, the Kesh Angels respect a certain tradition, but their presence is defiantly modern. He then juxtaposes these portraits with ephemera from the medina in unique, handmade frames and bright, Pop-Art colours.
