The International Summer School of Photography (ISSP) runs every year in August since its establishment in 2006. Taking place in Latvia, the ISSP attracts an international base of both students and teachers. The focus of the week-long workshop is concept, rather than technique, and the main distinguishing characteristic of the event is that it's non-commercial: the participation costs are low, and the goal is to support emerging artists in their development.
The 2012 edition held six workshops, each with 12 participants that must create an individual final project. With the GUP Chief Editor being present at the ISSP-workshops (as in 2011) and seeing all this fresh and refreshing work first hand, we decided to present this portfolio including some highlights from those final projects.
Teachers of the workshops: Hellen van Meene (The Netherlands), Philip Toledano (UK), Christian Caujolle (France), Hans van der Meer & Bas Vroege (The Netherlands), Jodie Bieber (South Africa), and Arja Hyytiainen (Finland).
