Goseong Choi (b. 1984) is a Korean photographer currently living and working in New York. For his series The Woods the Walls and Wells, he was inspired by a mouse, scratching the inside of the walls of his house. After the mouse had died and the terrible stench that came with it had disappeared, Choi wondered whether there really was a mouse that died. He never saw it and just assumed there was a mouse behind his wall, letting his mind fill in the gaps that were left by his senses.

In this series Choi investigates the confusion in between the borders of the physical space and the psychological realm. He perceived and then questioned both the presence of what was now absent, and the absence of what was once present. Through the eerie, dark woods in his pictures, the blind spots of the consciousness are filled in by the surreal.
