Across time, ancient humans have identified certain ‘places of power’, where supposed energies emanate from the Earth and replenish us. But, what are they?
“It is difficult to define these places, and there is also no official definition,” explains German photographer Francesco Futterer (b. 1990). They’re typically outside urban settlements in a natural landscape, but they’re dependent upon subjective thoughts and feelings to describe and define them. They have a long history of giving us a sense of well-being.
Futterer visited places of power in Germany, illuminating with a flash the facades of a rock, patches of grass or the texture of a tree. On each natural phenomenon the question is projected, what are the properties of power here possessed?
