In her series Elysium, Polish photographer Marcela Paniak (b. 1991) decorated old carte-de-visite with dried flowers. The result is a series of black and white portraits of women and men with plants that are carefully positioned on their heads, as if they wear flowers for hats. Elysium, in Greek mythology, is a place where the blessed souls of the dead stay.

Paniak has had several exhibitions both in and outside of Poland. She took part in the Month of Photography in Denver, in the Copenhagen Photo Festival and in Les Rencontres d'Arles festival. She has been nominated for the Discovery Award in Arles in 2013.
