In her work-in-progress ANJA, Lilli Waters (b. 1983, Australia) shows the simple and diverse beauty of the female body, depicted in rustic locations. Whether in outdoor natural settings, or interiors that have been somehow invaded by nature with plants or fruit, Waters' series is lush with romantic life. Often resembling classical paintings in their style, with saturated colours and deep contrast to accentuate the women's curves, the images are a celebration of feminine beauty. Waters photographed her friends for the series, eventually naming it ANJA with symbolic purpose. "The name means graceful, compassionate, kind hearted and kind," Waters explains about ANJA. "The way I see my friends."
