Foam presents the debut of this body of work from young English photographer Joss McKinley, Gathering Wool. The name itself is an expression meaning daydreaming, and the project in turn represents quiet contemplation. The images illustrate the beautiful colours of natural light and, in an autobiographical context, the series alternate between still lifes, landscapes, abstract images and portraits, mostly of friends, family and loved ones. Themes of water and windows feature heavily, along with people sleeping, allowing the viewer to speculate on the the dreams implied, both of day-dreaming and of literal dreaming.
