Event details
The rebellious Antoine D’Agata (1961, Marseille) spares you nothing. Simultaneously sensual and cruel, his dark images constantly make you wonder what you’re looking at. D’Agata started his career in the 1980s in New York, at the International Center of Photography alongside Nan Goldin and Larry Clark. A constant traveller on the grim and shady road of life, he tends to seek out drug-addled, sex fuelled situations. Immersing himself in his surroundings, he intimately gets to know his subjects – among them often prostitutes – and their way of life. Through this intimate bond he is able to get to the core of their being, capturing the rawness of their desires and emotions in his black & white photographs.
