Somehow, somewhat in the middle of things
De Grote Witte Reus

LhGWR is presenting an international group exhibition, combining work from both Western as well as non-Western photographers in an interesting mix. The shared search for identity, and the struggles people encounter when finding their place in societies shaped by political & social conventions, are central themes for this exhibition. Photographers Mary Sibande and Julia Gunther formed the starting point; in their work, both investigate and discuss the role of black women in South Africa. Five other photographers will be exhibiting as well: Newsha Tavakolian, Larissa Sansour, Waheeda Malullah, Pinar & Viola, Iris Vetter. All have an interesting way of commenting on a world that is globalised, hybrid, and fragmented.
