Event details

Boris Mikhailov turns his eminent Ukrainian eye to the streets of Kharkov, where he delves into the harsh realities of the social situation post-soviet era.

“Everything can be bought, everything can be sold, even children”, he says. The title of his new exhibit at Gallery Suzanne Tarasieve is a bittersweet wink at the catcalls from the street vendors who appeared not long after the fall of the regime: “Tea, Coffee, Cappuccino!”

Cappuccino, the symbol of a new world order, where social classes are reorganised, new businesses emerge, and the market is flooded with cheap plastic goods. The photographer walks the streets, documenting a new type of daily life, a time of transition.
