The French artist, Christian Boltanski, has created a new and exciting installation that was on show earlier this year during the Biennale in Venice. CHANCE deals with theme’s that are common in Boltanski’s work, such as; chance, luck and misfortune. In the main space a large scaffolding with an oversized film strip portrays the faces of babies photographed shortly after their birth. The film strip runs at high speed until it randomly stops and focusses on one of the babies, which are displayed on an lcd screen. And on either side of the room there are two digital clocks present which count up the world’s population.
