Event details

Siebe Swart has turned his attention towards the Dutch waterworks. Over the last few years, the Netherlands has struggled with rising water levels, Swart decided to photograph that process from a helicopter. He documents the reinforcement and streamlining of the country’s rivers, the ongoing development of the Delta works and the maintenance and management of the Dutch coastline. Swart manages to capture an aspect of this ongoing issue, namely the never-ending battle with water and the scars that it has left across the country. These facts are invisible when looking from the land, but become very clear when viewed from the birds-eye-view. The Netherlands will forever struggle with the rising water levels; something that is so empathetically visible from the air.
