Event details

During the 1970s, Helmut Newton was a firm believer in the technology of Polaroid cameras, as you may have seen in a book we covered recently: From Polaroids To Impossible. He often used it during fashion shoots because it soothed his impatient urge to know immediately what a certain situation would look like as a photograph. In this sense the Polaroid acted as a sketch of the shoot, whilst also creating the possibility to test the actual lighting and image composition. These images have been published, by Newton himself, in a book called Pola Woman. This exhibition gives us the opportunity to look into the sketchbook of one of the most influential photographers within the 20th century.
