Daniel Cohen and Mischa Cohen, who are unrelated even though they carry the same surname, took a lighthearted approach to an exhibition based around the idea of identity, particularly focussing on their own shared surname. They decided to document the lives of twenty-five others who they share their surname with, in Amsterdam. They interviewed and photographed them, with Amsterdam as their backdrop, resulting in a series of portraits in word and image which portray the ultimate Jewish name. The bilingual book, published by Cohen Publishers, contains the complete selection of interviews with the large group of Cohen’s.
