Event details
Launching its inaugural year, the London Street Photography Festival aims to portray a variety of street photography and celebrate the international appeal of this genre of photographic focus. The Launch Party celebrates various exhibitions through a rotating schedule in which participants may view the festival’s diverse venues, which include the British Library and the German Gymnasium.
This focus on street photography allows consideration of non-professional photographers as sources of legitimate and often unique talent. For example, highlights include the first UK exhibition of the incredible archives of mysterious and until recently undiscovered Chicago street photographer Vivian Maier at the German Gymnasium. Another highlight is the exhibition concentrating on the newly discovered body of work on post-war London by previously unknown British Photographer Walter Joseph, available for viewing at the British Library.
