Dutch Eyes is an A to Z chronicle of developments in Dutch photography from 1840 to the present. A great deal has been published about Dutch photographers and photography, but recent general surveys have been few and far between (with the exception of Roots + Turns – 20th Century Photography in the Netherlands, published in 1988). New research was conducted for this book, and where necessary supplemental research tool, and the chosen themes were tested against curent ideas. An attempt was made to discover what distinguishes Dutch developments from foreign ones and what exactly constitutes inherently Dutch photography. Lavishly illustrated with more 500 revealing photos from leading Dutch collections, Dutch Eyes is a must for anyone with even a minor interest in photography and its history.
