Phillip Toledano started making pictures of recently abandoned offices and the things people had left behind. Documenting the pictures in his project called Bankrupt, felt like economic archeology to him seeing as America hasn’t suffered an economic collapse on this scale since the 1930’s. The pictures taken are very clear-cut and let us feel the emptiness of bankruptcy: Coat-hangers without any coats on them; empty mailboxes; withering plants and redundant telephones; not a soul in sight. Pictures of modern day offices in the present day: Their purpose in history.
