Vibrant and bursting with colourful African charisma, multi-award winning Swedish photographer Per-Anders Pettersson’s (1967) latest book African Catwalk takes us on a journey through the energetic world of the African fashion industry. Photographed in sixteen different countries over the last five years, Pettersson documents and encapsulates the bustling atmosphere of the burgeoning African fashion scene. Using a wide range of photographic approaches such as portraiture, documentary and more candid reportage, Pettersson reveals an energetic and impressive side of Africa.
Rather than focusing on the all too familiar tales of war, famine and other human monstrosities in Africa, Pettersson spreads a message of its vitality, creativity and innovation.
African Catwalk was featured in GUP #51, the Rituals issue.
