Millions of people forced to flee, whole cities unapologetically evacuated and Mother Nature left to her fate. The Three Gorges Dam project began building work in China in 1993. In order for this project to go ahead 1.3 million Chinese people have been forced to leave their homes. Their homes will be swallowed by the biggest reservoir in the world. Niels Stomps went to China to document life in the new, hastily built, misty cities high in the mountains. The powerlessness of the evacuated and the sheer size of the project make an uneasy, lingering impression.
