After examining ordinary women and their 'real beauty', and post-apartheid gang culture in her native South Africa, Jodi Bieber now brings us an unconventional take on Soweto’s daily lived realities. Unsatisfied with the way Africa and South Africa are portrayed in the media and how Soweto is still exclusively seen as a dusty shanty town, she pushed herself to go beyond the superficial. She thus succeeds in presenting a fresh view of the spirit of togetherness ( Ubuntu) in this peculiar and ever-changing urban space within the metropolitan area of Johannesburg.
