On the road

‘It is in front of me and behind me. It may be smooth, it may be rough. It is the vein of my world.’ That is how photographer Bert Teunissen describes the road. He covered over 50,000 kilometers of road for this project and managed to create a substantial number of black and white photos of roads, each with a very different atmosphere. Picture yourself driving alone on the road surrounded by nothing but trees, mountains, darkness or fog. The book is printed in newspaper style (offset) and comes rolled up like a scroll, bound by a printed ribbon and housed in a cardboard box.
