You don’t really wake up when you open ‘Wake’ by Adam Jeppesen (1978, Denmark). You rather land in a ‘twilight zone’ where the colours are dreamy and light creates suspense. It is the first monogram of Jeppesons’ work that he made while spending a few months in seclusion on the Finnish inland. In surreal large format images, everything down to the last detail appears to be frozen. For Jeppeson, ‘Wake’ is an emotional and aesthetic clarity obtained through solitude. For me, this book is a real find. Find out more about the book here.
