For this Colors magazine project, London-based photographic team Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin chose twelve rare communities. Modern ghettos. Starting in a refugee camp in Tanzania, ending in a forest in Patagonia. They spent a month in each place, methodically photographing and asking the same questions: 'How did you get here?', 'who is in power?', 'what are your hopes and dreams?' For many of the people photographed it was their first time in front of a camera. Resulting in a collection of humane and subtle photographs.
Ghetto is available from publisher Trolley Books.
