Toluca

February 15, 2012 Author: Pablo López Luz

In expressing the essence of his story, Pablo López Luz has adopted an unconventional form of aerial photography. Normally, images of urban landscapes are taken from high up, whereas here the photographer chooses to fly at bird’s-eye level in order to capture part of the horizon at the top of his frame, simultaneously giving the images a panoramic viewpoint. The structure of cities like Hong Kong, Acapulco and Mexico City does not vary greatly but the natural geography makes them markedly different. This becomes all the more apparent in the two essays included by eminent Spanish historian Horacio Fernandez and the director of the Mexican Museo de Bellas Artes, Itzel Vargas.
