The exhibition Summertime features German photographer Nomi Baumgartl’s recent work. Baumgartl’s 36 photographs displayed were taken after she was in a car accident and thus had to learn how to photograph anew. Despite her eyes being injured, Baumgartl’s photographs highlight her deep understanding of humanity and the depth of nature elements of which the world is comprised. In this exhibition her photographs of the Bahamas, specifically her unique underwater images of dolphins and people, used originally for the organization „Dolphin Aid“, are displayed. Rich with playful, dancelike movements and the lightness of summer, Baumgartl’s work demonstrates how her own fate miraculously did not render her tougher, but rather more delicate and sensitive.

Summertime will be on display at Photokunst in Berlin until September 22, 2017.
