Photoquai, a biannual festival held in Paris, which celebrates and promotes non-Western photographers, has announced the photographers who have been selected for residency. Earlier this year GUP announced Photoquai's 2012 call for applications, inviting photographers from Asia, Africa, Oceania and the America's to submit their work to be reviewed and considered for Photoquai's programme of residency, the results for which have now been announced.
Hugo Aveta, from Argentina, is joined by Lek Kiatsirikajorn, from Thailand, and South Korean Che Onejoon as Photoquai's newest residencies. The three photographers will have the projects they are currently working on largely subsidised by Photoquai, while also being extended the opportunity of exhibiting their work at Photoquai Festival's fourth edition, in 2013.
