GUP Instagram hosts its next takeover with Mexican photographer Joaquin Trujillo (1976, Zacatecas), who will be posting images from Mexico until February 17. Trujillo was raised in a small town on the outskirts of Zacatecas as the youngest of eleven siblings. At the early age of 12, he left his home for Los Angeles, where he lived with his brothers in a one-bedroom apartment. Travelling back and forth from LA to Mexico became Trujillo’s nomadic way of life. Building upon his contrast of his Mexican heritage and American education, he weaves different themes, such as childhood and innocence, together across culture, place and time.

Joaquin Trujillo joined forces with his long-time partner Brian Paumier in 2001 and their work has been exhibited in several art shows, art fairs and magazines. Their commercial practices continue to lead them all over the world.

Trujillo’s series Los Niños was included in GUP#32, the Mexico issue, as a portfolio, which can also be viewed on GUP as an online portfolio.
