According to Amsterdam-based photographer Danny Griffioen (1994), photography is a way to express his emotions. With his new photo series, How Do I Feel?, which is now on exhibit in Cloud Gallery in Amsterdam, Griffioen reveals the search for his identity. This searching already started at the Photo Academy with his graduation project Am I Danny?, in which Griffioen discovered the transition from adolescent to adult.
How Do I Feel? reveals the photographer’s ongoing exploration of the inner self and deals with emotional feelings, but also with physical pain. By revealing vulnerability in its most extreme way, namely through intimate portraits of himself, Griffioen questions the way in which men think they ‘should’ behave. Is a man allowed to show his feelings?
Cloud Gallery will exhibit the 25 analogue photographs until March 24, 2016.
