For the coming ten days PUPTUT will takeover our Instagram, posting from Copenhagen. This interdisciplinary artist duo is the visual and conceptual fusion of two minds, in both thought and practice, established by Stefan Friedli (CH) and Ulrik Martin Larsen (DK). PUTPUT is neatly placed between input and output, allowing them to navigate through the increasingly busy intersection where photography, sculpture and design meet.
The two men have a shared and deeply rooted fascination with metaphysical relationships connected to everyday objects which guides and perpetuates their work. A humoristic undercurrent runs through the reduced, ambiguous and profoundly superficial visual universe that defines PUTPUT. They are capable of transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary, thus creating fictional but recognizable object typologies. Which is at the core of their artistic practice.
They will showcase numerous behind-the-scene shots and older but also newer work, all of which reference the Pop Art, surrealism and still life movements. Their aim: “to set out to create self-explanatory images that challenge perception through juxtapositions of objects, both manmade and natural in the hope that the viewer might look twice…or more and to maybe upon that second glance discover something unexpected or unseen.”
