This year’s edition of Fotofestiwal Lodz focuses on nature photography in the context of contemporary environmental problems. In bringing to light current issues such as global warming, mass extinction and ‘plastic soup’, one of the most classic genres of photography might be more relevant than ever. The festival aims to spark a discussion on ecological awareness by inviting artists and curators as well as scientists and sociologists. Global problems and local stories are combined, all exploring matters of ethics and power when it comes to our environment. The festival, established in 2001 as one of the first photography events in Poland, has focused on the connections between art and society since its conception.
Fotofestiwal Lodz runs from June 21 until July 1, 2018 at various locations in Lodz, Poland.
