Apart from their core program of a one-year photographic workshop, they’ve also developed supplementary programs of short photo workshops with industry professionals. From the 8th to the 10th of December, 2017, Atelier Smedsby is hosting a workshop to be conducted by renowned contemporary photographer Cristina De Middel which will be held in Montreuil, Paris (France). The workshop aims to share with participants the strategies used by artist Cristina De Middel in translating her ideas into images and in constructing a narrative with them.
During the course, general issues about pushing the possibilities of photography beyond classical conceptions will be addressed, students will be guided on how to control and reinforce their narrative and stage by stage issues related to different phases of the creative process will be discussed; from the original idea, production and preparation for each take, research for sources and documentation, to final decisions on the exhibition or editorial form.
