NOOR Turns 5 at Visa Pour l'Image
On September 6, exactly five years after its launch at the Visa pour l’image festival for photojournalism, the Amsterdam-based agency NOOR will be present in Perpignan with its full crew to launch a special publication. In collaboration with BLURB they will present a series of books that testifies the friendship amongst its members; the respect for each other’s visions and their collective dedication to the communicative power of photography.
NOOR (meaning ‘light’ in Arabic) was born out of a longing to break free of commercial constraints and the devaluation of images. Its original members decided to not only become an agency but also a foundation, aiming at independent and in-depth visual reporting on human rights and global concerns.Since 2007, Noor saw 13 member photographers, four advisory board members, six employees, 24 interns, organized over 20 international group exhibitions and realized six educational projects with a total of 89 participants, and created four unique group projects.
On September 6, followed by a book-signing session, NOOR will also launch a brand new website. The Chief Editor of GUP will be there to report.
