Images from over 100 photographers from across the world have been selected to be displayed at the 19th Noorderlicht International Photofestival Terra Cognita. The Festival consists of an exhibition oriented by the theme of nature, whereby it raises such issues as the contradiction posed by the desire to control and cultivate one's environment, and an innate human longing to be in contact with nature in its purest form.
Despite being guided by a theme, the selected photographs showcase a variety of genres, from documentary to staged photography, signalling the important role of nature as a source of inspiration for photographers.
The event's central location is the Museum Belvédère, in Heerenveen/Oranjewoud, from 2 September to 7 October. For further details on the event visit the Noorderlicht Terra Cognita Photofestival's website.
